In Brazil, the Atlantic ocean sunrise was so strong it penetrated the "blackout" curtains, and it was always around between 5:00 and 5:30am. We were awake before we ever wanted to be. Nowadays we don't get light in our windows until well after 7:00am, but it's so intense it bleaches out the sky before settling back into a looming cloudless blue. Needless to say, hats and ridiculous hat hair make regular appearances around my house.
