Dillon Trip #1: Balaban

Train done Mark style: Always with Ciuc
Post-meat walk from Keller's Steakhouse.
Giving them no time to even contemplate feeling tired, Mark and I rounded up my brother and sister-in-law to the Inn on Balaban to launch their Romanian trip. After a meandering train ride and hired ride, they arrived to the mountaintop in great spirits. The usual greeting of palinka and fruit bowl was accompanied by a band shooting their music video, syncing the sway of their saxophones, trumpets and stringed instruments to the prerecorded Romanian music playing overhead.
The fruit there is irresistible.

Like before, we enjoyed hiking with Deets leading the way up the two track road, smelling flowers and hanging with the locals. We watched Jim and Deets roll in the dirt, throw sticks and took in the fresh air before dinner where we virtually licked our plates clean. The evening stretched into night with drinks and great conversation, and their night ended almost instantly when their heads hit the linen sheets. I couldn't say the same for our room, but that's the joy of kids, right? Hmphf.

Who's a good boy?
Who's also a good boy?

Early morning view. Because of course Margo woke up at 5:00am
